TASS: lawyers Ushkalov and Shevtsov were accused of attempting to bribe persons in court
Lawyers Igor Ushkalov and Pavel Shevtsov, arrested by the Zamoskvoretsky Court in Moscow, are accused of mediating bribery in the amount of more than 30 million rubles for the purpose of bribing unidentified officials in the judicial system. This is reported by TASS citing a law enforcement source.
According to the agency’s interlocutor, it was established that the lawyers received from the entrepreneur’s son first 100 thousand rubles, and then a dummy 14 million 900 thousand rubles as the first part of 30 million rubles for further transfer to officials in the judicial system to change the decision of the Khimki court of the Moscow region on changing the preventive measure for businessman Vladimir Bartsakin, who is accused of fraud on an especially large scale, to house arrest.
Shevtsov and Ushkalov were arrested until December 3. Shevtsov admitted guilt in the case and entered into a pre-trial agreement, Ushkalov did not admit guilt in the case. Lawyers face up to 15 years in prison.
The lawyers were detained on Friday, October 4.
