Two penalties arrive and an important update in the chase for the Michelin Cup in the post-qualifying of the last round of the Porsche Carrera Cup Italia in Monza. The penalty that the BeDriver rider was given for not respecting a double yellow flag right at the end of the session weighs heavily on Huub Van Eijndhoven’s performance.
Having qualified second on the front row, more than half a second behind the 1’47″650 of poleman Robert De Haan, all the times were canceled in Van Eijendhoven and therefore the Dutchman will line up in the last row. A fact that allows the title contenders to move up one position and “directly” challenge De Haan for the win.
In fact, in race 1, having qualified with the third best time, Keagan Masters will now line up in the front row, followed by Larry Ten Voorde in third position, Oliver Gray in fourth and Marvin Klein in fifth. And so on. Instead, Van Eijndhoven will start from the back of the group ahead of only Paolo Gnemmi.
The Ebimotors driver was the protagonist of a very unfortunate qualifying when in the first minutes he had to stop the 911 GT3 Cup number 51 on the side of the track, losing the entire session. Enrico Borghi’s team immediately replaced the damaged engine and so the home driver will be able to line up at the start and, albeit from an unfavorable position, compete for the chance to remain in the running for the Michelin Cup title, with direct rivals Alberto De Amicis and Francesco Fenici who will instead start ahead of everyone in the category.
The race 1 grid also changes for Lodovico Laurini, penalized by two positions for the contact caused on Pietro Armanni before the Ascari which caused an interruption of the session with a red flag.
