The French company Dab Motors has announced a special version of its DAB 1α electric motorcycle inspired by Game Boy Color Atomic Purple by Nintendo. Unfortunately you can’t take it with you to the bathroom to play with, unless you have a very large one that can be easily reached by a two-wheeled vehicle.
Price and availability
This little gem it costs 14,900 euros to book (will be available in December), features a transparent purple body, custom handlebars with Nintendo-style controls and a design that mimics the look of the Game Boy Color’s LCD display. If that wasn’t enough, it will also include a real Game Boy Color cartridge, transformed into an ignition key (who knows if you blow into it…).
They are thinking of making the DAB 1α even more video game-like cheats included. In what sense? Simple: by using secret codes you can unlock greater speed, as well as themes for the display and new sound effects. The codes will be reported in a magazine supplied with the motorbike.
Dab Motors explained that it took “inspiration from translucent colored consoles”, so much so that “the entire body of this DAB 1α is made of completely translucent plastics” which “show the internal mechanisms”.
The DAB 1α is powered by an 11 kW electric motor and has a top speed of just over 80 mph. Its range is 93 miles, while the 7.1kWh lithium-ion battery takes around three and a half hours to fully charge. Unfortunately only 400 units will be produced, plus some with different designs. When booking you can choose the design you want to receive.
