Napoli coach Antonio Conte admitted that he was not sure of his team’s right to lead the Italian Football League, despite the comfortable 3-1 victory over Como at the opening of the seventh stage.
After losing the opening match to Verona, the southern team won five times in six matches, temporarily topping the Serie A standings by four points over Juventus.
“I don’t know if Napoli deserves top spot, but we are in first place and that is a reality,” Conte told the Dazzone streaming network.
The former English coach of Juventus, Inter, the Italian national team, Chelsea and Tottenham continued, “If I had been told that three months ago, I would have found it difficult to believe it.”
The 55-year-old veteran coach added, “We are improving in our ability to adapt and play good football, but we immerse ourselves in work when necessary. This is a good indicator, and we must exploit it fully.”
Napoli dominated the confrontation with Como early, with Scot Scott McTominay opening the scoring just 26 seconds after the start.
