Dubai (Etihad)
Rayan Ahmed, our national team player, qualified for the final rounds of the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship, currently being held in Japan, with the participation of 120 players.
On the sidelines of the tournament, it was announced that the UAE won the hosting of the “16th edition” of the tournament at the “Al Majlis” Stadium at the Emirates Golf Club in Dubai.
Rayyan became the third player from the Emirates to reach the final rounds in “Asia and the Pacific”, after Ahmed Muhammad Al-Musharkh and Ahmed Akram Sukayk.
Ryan finished the first and second rounds, with a total of 146 strokes, which led him to reserve his place among 63 of the 120 players, and qualify for the third and fourth rounds, which give the winners of the title an opportunity to participate in the “Masters” and “Open” amateur tournaments in Britain in 2025.
Major General “M”, Pilot Abdullah Al-Sayyid Al-Hashemi, Vice President of the Golf Federation, congratulated Rayyan on his performance, despite the difficult weather and climatic conditions in which the competitions were being held.
Al-Hashemi said: “We are proud of Rayyan’s performance, despite the difficult weather conditions due to rain and fog, especially since his current participation comes days after he won the silver medal in the Arab Youth Championship in Tunisia.”
He added: “Ryan must play the final two rounds with high concentration, and we are proud of what he achieved, regardless of his final result.”
