The sensations in Motegi
There is great satisfaction at VR46 for the performance of Fabio Di Giannantonio6th in the Motegi Sprint race but above all completed by the Roman driver with his own strength. #49 is still dealing with severe pain in his shoulder that has tormented him since Austrian GPbut over the Japanese weekend ‘Diggia’ showed significant progress on a physical level. All this, however, does not exclude a possible surgery which will be evaluated next week: “I’m very happy because this is the first race in which I feel a little better – explained to Sky Sports MotoGP – I can run without painkillersat least the toughest ones, but I still need them. I feel my shoulder more when I ride, but I can use a little more force, so that’s very positive. I’m happy above all because It’s the first weekend in which I’ve been able to ride the bike again almost as much as before the injuryso for now it’s a very good weekend. I have an important visit planned on Wednesday when I return from Japan, and there we will understand a few things to see what to do regarding a possible operation.”
The next goals
The surgical intervention therefore remains a question mark for ‘Diggia’, who underlined what are and will be his main objectives: “I would like to do my best this season even if we are not playing for anything at the moment, but I want to race, do as many races as possible and do the whole championship – he continued – at the same time the real important year will be nextso it will be very important reach 100% already in the pre-season tests. So in the event of a possible operation, the focus is on trying to arrive as ready as possible for next year, so if we have to miss any races we will have to skip them.”
The tire for the long race
Di Giannantonio, like other riders, did not go too far on what his decision will be on the tires he will wear tomorrow for the long race, with the medium compound tested on a few occasions during this weekend: “The choice of rear tire is still unclearwe’re trying to figure out which one will be best for us – he continued – I feel good physically and I think I can push to the end in this race, and that’s a great thing. The most important moment of the GP is towards the end of the race, because that’s where we come out. The soft will be able to give me a hand.”
No points for ‘Bez’
Sprint more disappointing, however, for Marco Bezzecchi. Starting from eighth place on the grid, the rider from Romagna lost positions towards the end until he was relegated to 10th placewhich in the Sprint race however is equivalent to a placing outside the points zone: “Today I certainly struggled more than yesterday, especially in qualifying, but also in the Sprint. The grip conditions here are very different from Mandalika and I’m not completely comfortable riding. We have today’s data to analyze, the goal is to find solutions and mend the gap. Maybe a wet race would also help me take that step forward on T1 and T4. We’ll try again tomorrow.”
