Uphill day
The Saturday of Jorge Martin he was decidedly on the defensive at Motegi, especially after the crashed in qualifying which forced him to start from the 11th spot on the starting grid. The World Championship leader in the Sprint race was the protagonist of one departure-masterpieceimmediately reaching sixth position, but then preferred not to risk too much. The fourth place finishgained thanks to Binder’s technical problems and Pedro Acosta’s fall, led him to lose six points from Bagnaia in the general classification.
“It was certainly a complicated Saturday after the crash in qualifying – recognized Martin to the microphones of Sky Sports MotoGP – I made a mistake which I then paid for in the race. At the start I managed to immediately recover some positions, but there was a little lack of confidence when it started to drizzle. I didn’t feel like pushing, so I lost the rhythm. At a certain point, however, I was very close to Marc and for tomorrow I saw many things that could help me. The start was fantastic and everything turned out more or less as I thought. Tomorrow however it will be more difficult“.
The danger of rain
What decided the race of the standard bearer of the Prima-Pramac team were the phases of the race in which a few drops of rain fell from the sky: at that point the #89 wisely preferred to pull out the oars. “I saw that Marc [Marquez] in those moments he caught up, while I remained behind. I didn’t want to take unnecessary risks. I’d rather finish fourth than risk a crashbut I think conditions should be better tomorrow. I didn’t want what happened to Acosta to happen to me. In view of the GP I saw many things on my bike that could be improved, especially some details on the maps. Tomorrow will be a long race, in which the tires will degrade a lot, so we will have to be careful. Marquez? If he hadn’t wasted time with Aeneas he probably would have won. You can see that he risks more when it rains, while I lose. I hope to be a little stronger tomorrow in these conditions”concluded Martin.
