El Paso.- In the early hours of Friday morning, several drivers were arrested for driving under the influence, according to reports from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPCSO). And not only that: two of them collided with two patrol cars of the police corporation itself.
The incidents began at 1:52 a.m., when officers were blocking traffic to investigate a crash on I-10 East near the Eastlake exit. At that moment, a car driven by Ramón Aranda, 27, hit a patrol unit and a tow truck. After conducting the relevant tests, officers determined that Aranda was intoxicated and proceeded to arrest him for driving under the influence (DWI).
However, the situation became even more complicated. At 3:15 a.m., while officers were responding to another accident on I-10 East, a few miles from the first incident, a second suspected drunk driver crashed into another patrol unit. Daniel Vasquez, 32, was arrested at the scene and was also charged with driving while intoxicated.
Both men were transported to the El Paso County Detention Center, where they will remain pending the corresponding judicial proceedings. The Sheriff’s Office continues to urge the community not to drive under the influence and to adopt safe driving practices.
