The Dutchman who attacked a policeman in Moscow faces up to 10 years in prison
A Dutch citizen arrested in Moscow on charges of using violence against a police officer faces up to ten years in prison. A possible sentence for the Dutchman who attacked a law enforcement officer was named RIA Novosti in court.
“Van Woerden Harry Johannes has been charged under Part 2 of Article 318 of the Criminal Code of Russia (“Use of violence against a representative of the authorities” – approx. “Tapes.ru”), providing for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of up to ten years,” the agency was told.
The incident became known on October 4. A Dutch citizen hit a police officer in the face who reprimanded him. The incident occurred near the Smolenskaya station of the Moscow metro. The policeman reprimanded the foreigner after he knocked down a road sign. In response, the security officer received a blow to the face. The foreigner was sent into custody for two months.
