The US president, Joe Biden, stated this Friday that he does not have confidence that the presidential elections on November 5 will take place peacefully, due to the conspiracy theories spread by Donald Trump and his running mate, JD Vance.
According to the criteria of
“I am confident that (the electoral process) will be free and fair, but I don’t know if it will be peaceful,” said the president in the White House press room, where he appeared by surprise and answered several questions from journalists.
The things that the former president and Republican candidate, who will face Vice President Kamala Harris, Democratic candidate, have said and “the things he said the last time”, in the 2020 elections, “when he didn’t like the result, were very dangerous,” Biden said.
The president also assured that Vance “did not say that he would accept the result of the elections.”
Biden was asked if he is receiving national security briefings on possible problems arising from the non-acceptance of the election results. “I always receive them,” he said.
Two of the criminal proceedings for which Trump is charged are related to the 2020 elections: that of Georgia, with its alleged interference in the electoral results, and that of Washington DC, for its possible participation in the incidents of January 6, 2021, which led to the assault on the Capitol.
In the latest interviews he has conducted, Trump has shown some ambiguity and has stated that he will accept the result of the 2024 elections only if the results are “fair and free.”
