Stoltenberg: US elections could give impetus to resolving the conflict in Ukraine
Former NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the final results of the US presidential elections in November this year could give impetus to resolving the conflict in Ukraine. Ex-Secretary General about this stated in an interview with the Financial Times.
“After [президентских американских] elections there will be some new impulse, a new initiative to try to achieve some kind of movement… But I don’t think it will be about raising the white flag and giving up. This could include ways to achieve progress on the battlefield, combined with action at the negotiating table,” Stoltenberg told British journalists.
Earlier, the new NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, during a visit to Kyiv, said that Russia does not have the right to veto Ukraine’s accession to the North Atlantic Alliance. “One day Ukraine will become a member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, and Russia does not have a veto on this,” the Secretary General expressed his opinion.
