New York.- Polish tennis player Iga Swiatek, world number 1, announced this Friday that she will no longer continue working with coach Tomasz Wiktorowski, AFP reported.
“After three years of achieving the greatest successes in my career, we have decided to end our collaboration,” Swiatek wrote on the social network Instagram. The Pole announced two weeks ago that she would not defend her title in the Beijing Tournament, at stake, for “personal reasons.” “His experience, his analytical and strategic attitude and his enormous knowledge of tennis helped us accomplish things that I would not have imagined just a few months after starting to work together,” Swiatek stressed about Wiktorowski.
“Due to this important change for me, I am giving myself the next few weeks to begin a collaboration with a new coach,” he explained, adding that he maintains conversations “with foreign coaches.”
“I will let you know when I make the decision,” added Swiatek, at the top of the WTA rankings since November 2023. The 23-year-old player has five Grand Slam titles, including four at Roland Garros.
