Bubzia, a speedrunner who specializes in play blindfolded, completed Super Mario 64 in under 20 minutes. Yes, he played it without being able to see the screen, using only sounds and memory as points of reference. Of course he did not achieve this result overnight, but he underwent hard training.
He tells the story himself all the work that goes into this result: “After 10 months of non-stop grinding, 118 days/streams of practice, racing and so much more, the most ambitious goal in blindfolded SM64 speedrunning has finally been achieved.” Note that Bubzia is not the first to do it, but he improved the previous record by more than 40 seconds. Furthermore, our guy had also tried to do it on another occasion, dating back seven years ago. “I am incredibly happy to have overcome all the difficulties this challenge subjected me to,” he added to the story.
“It’s been a really fun journey. Viewership for blindfolded speedruns in general has increased tremendously, and many have followed me through the daily grind of this challenge over the last year. I honestly don’t have much to say about the run, it can still be improved and maybe one day I’ll try again, as cliché as it may sound. the most important part of the achievement and the new world record is my fantastic and very kind community. Thank you all so much!” Bubzia finally added that he soon wants to break the record of 70 stars collected while playing blindfolded. Will he make it?
