The last round of the Porsche Carrera Cup Italia is ready to start the engines and among the 33 at the start and all the challenges for the titles that will be resolved during the weekend it also hosts the two-time world champion Kalle Rovanpera rally.
The Finnish champion, who turned 24 just on October 1st, “gave himself” his first weekend in the Italian single-brand championship, which he will tackle from free practice this afternoon at the wheel of the 911 GT3 Cup of the Prima Ghinzani team.
Despite having learned about the car in the homologous Benelux series during the summer, with a very practical spirit, Rovanpera clarified the first expectations and the first targets for this weekend and the sensation given to those who welcomed and observed him in the paddock also during the usual photos it is that of a young talent who can’t wait to maximize this experience too.
In past years, he has contested the Rally Show and the World Rally in Monza, but it is clear that this time he will face something different: “These days I expect first and foremost to have a lot of fun and have a positive weekend – said Rovanpera before the pilots briefing –. The goal is just to try to learn a new track and get to know a new team pretty quickly. usually a commitment like this is achieved with a few tests, but this time it’s really my first time here in Monza with a car like this, so I need to learn the track immediately during free practice, there isn’t much time to disposition and I will try to do my best and have fun”.
A small unknown at the moment is the rain, which continues to fall in Monza, albeit very lightly. Should it stop soon, within a short time, with the other categories running, the track could dry out and allow a round, which among other things is also crucial for Masters, Ten Voorde and Klein in their bid for the title, completely or at least in part dry.
