From August the young people suspected of crimes on the shore of Haukilahti in Espoo have been released from pretrial detention, informs the police department of Länsi-Uusimaa. According to the police, travel bans have been imposed on the young people.
Five young people aged 15–17 were in pretrial detention in connection with the Haukilahti beach on 16.−17. to suspected aggravated assaults, assaults and robberies that occurred in August. In addition, the police informs that some of the young people suspected of violent crimes are also suspected of serious drug crimes.
The police say that they have interviewed dozens of young people who were in Haukilahti. The preliminary investigation will now move to prosecution.
Suspected the crimes took place in August, when young people gathered on the beach to celebrate the start of school. The suspected crimes had several victims. One minor boy was hospitalized due to serious injuries.
The police said in August that some of the crimes can also meet the criteria of, for example, defamation or coercion.
