Google’s Gemini Live conversational AI has been available worldwide for a few days now, free for users. The problem is that at its launch it was only in certain languages, but now it is in more than 40 more.
Starting today and for the next few weeks, Gemini Live will support more than 40 languages. This new AI from Google supports conversations in up to two languages on the same device, and there are plans to expand it to more languages in the future.
At the moment, Google does not share the list of the more than 40 languages in which Gemini Live will be available soon; that number is expected to increase as the months go by.
Let’s remember that before its launch, only English, German, Spanish, French and Portuguese were supported, so this is a very significant expansion.
Gemini Live is available in 40 languages and counting
To change your preferred languages for Gemini Live, open the Google app, go to Settings > Google Assistant > Languages and choose one. You can then optionally add a second supported language.
How to use Gemini Live on Android?
- Open the Gemini mobile app.
- If the option is available, you can also say: Hey Google.
- At the bottom, tap Live.
- The first time, follow all on-screen instructions.
- Start talking.
To turn off the microphone, press and hold the standby or end icon, or say Stop.
In the coming weeks, you will be able to connect to new tools through different apps in more languages. Google gives three examples: having Gemini find a recipe that was sent to you by Gmail and asking it to add the ingredients to your shopping list in Google Keep.
You can also take a photo of a concert poster and ask Gemini if you are free that day; as well as set a reminder to buy tickets. Lastly, you can ask him when your favorite comic book movie is coming out and give him a reminder before the premiere.
