Brasília, 3 – Brazil will be able to export new products to Cuba and Japan, the Ministries of Agriculture and Foreign Affairs said in a joint note. The health authorizations were received by the Brazilian government on Wednesday, 2nd, and this Thursday, 3rd.
Japan has opened its market to cassava bran, hay, dehydrated citrus pulp, dried clove flower, dried yerba mate leaf and dried macadamia fruit from Brazil.
To Cuba, Brazil is authorized to export sheep and goat genetic material.
The opening of the Cuban market occurred amid the Ministry of Agriculture’s mission to the country.
The director of the National Animal Health Center of Cuba (Cenasa), Roymi Hernandez Cuervo, announced to the ministry’s deputy executive secretary, Cleber Soares, the approval of the requirements presented by Brazil for the export of semen and embryos from sheep and goats. “This will bring mutual benefits and reinforces Brazil’s role as a strategic partner for the agricultural and commercial development of our friendly countries in Central America,” said Soares, in a statement.
The countries also updated the International Veterinary Certificate (CVI) for the export of fertile eggs and day-old chicks from Brazil and agreed to draw up a Memorandum of Understanding on agricultural defense, covering animal and plant defense, health surveillance, laboratories, quarantine and inspection of products of plant and animal origin.
According to the folders, September was the month with the highest number of market openings in the year, with 50 processes completed in 14 countries. During the year, the country accumulated 168 market openings for agricultural products, with 246 markets opened in 60 countries since the beginning of 2023.
“This result is a reflection of our commitment to strengthening Brazilian agriculture and opening new opportunities for farmers and ranchers. We are sure that there is still a lot to be achieved”, said the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Carlos Fávaro.
