Denmark|Swedish police do not say whether the Copenhagen incident is connected to the earlier shooting in Stockholm.
in Denmark two teenage Swedes were taken into pretrial detention on Thursday as suspects in the explosions that took place the night before Wednesday near the Israeli Embassy in Denmark. The suspects deny their guilt.
They are suspected of throwing two hand grenades near the embassy. No one was injured, but a building near the embassy was damaged.
The Swedish men were arrested on Wednesday at Copenhagen Central Station.
On the other hand, shots were fired near the Israeli Embassy in Sweden on Tuesday evening.
The police do not want to say whether there is a connection between the attacks.
“Today we will not say more about preliminary examinations,” said the head of NOA, the Swedish police’s national operational department Johan Olsson at a press conference in Stockholm on Thursday.
According to him, details will be disclosed when it suits the investigation situation.
The shooting in Stockholm is being investigated as an aggravated weapon crime, causing danger to others, aggravated illegal threats and criminal damage.
No one has been arrested in connection with the Stockholm incident.
Iran may have been involved in the attacks against the Israeli embassies in Stockholm and Copenhagen, according to Swedish security police Säpo.
“Some say that this might be the case, partly based on the object and the method of doing it. But it’s an assumption rather than information,” Säpo’s operational director Fredrik Hallström said at a press conference on Thursday.
According to media reports, the police suspect that the criminal network Foxtrot was behind the actions in Stockholm and Copenhagen on behalf of Iran.
Säpo has previously stated that Iran uses criminals in Sweden to commit acts of violence.
At the press conference Minister of Justice Gunnar Strömmer said that the security situation in Sweden is still serious. According to him, there are still three parallel threats to internal security, i.e. the threat of terrorism, the threat of state actors and the threat of organized crime.
According to Strömmer, the government is in constant contact with the police and Säpo because of the events in Stockholm and Copenhagen.
“But also with the Danish government,” he added.
