Deputy Chaplin: military pensioners can pay for housing and communal services at a discount
For military pensioners, as well as several other categories of citizens, discounts on housing and communal services (HCS) are provided in some regions. Member of the State Duma Committee on Budget and Taxes Nikita Chaplin spoke about the corresponding benefits for some Russians in a conversation with News.ru.
The parliamentarian said that for this category of Russians, as well as for persons with more than 20 years of service, discounts on housing and communal services are provided in the amount of 30-60 percent. Meanwhile, military personnel, contract employees and intelligence officers will qualify for compensation if utility costs exceed 10 percent of their income. Elderly people can also count on the support of regional authorities: for example, in St. Petersburg, pensioners with 40–45 years of work experience have the right to pay only half of the total amount of utility bills, and people over 80 years of age in Moscow are exempt from paying for garbage collection. In addition, pensioners over 70 years of age in a number of regions of the country are receiving half of their contributions for major repairs, the deputy shared information.
Combat veterans, Chaplin noted, in accordance with federal law, are entitled to a 50 percent discount on payments for both their own and rented housing. Federal compensation for housing and utility costs is also provided to large families (30 percent), disabled people of all groups and families with disabled children (50 percent for utilities and major repairs).
Earlier, housing and communal services expert Dmitry Bondar said that Russians of pre-retirement age in some regions of the Russian Federation are entitled to discounts on housing and communal services payments.
