Mexico City.– President Claudia Sheinbaum ordered the National Water Commission (Conagua) to restore the distribution of liquid as soon as possible in the areas affected by Hurricane “John” in Acapulco.
During a work meeting held at the facilities of the 12th Naval Region, the president also instructed the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation to repair the roads.
“The most urgent thing is the supply of drinking water and the restoration of roads. We leave instructions to @conagua_mx and @SICTmx to help the Municipality of Acapulco,” he indicated. On September 24, “John” made landfall on the Pacific coast and due to intense rains, it left flooding and caused landslides.
Sheinbaum reported that tomorrow he will lead another meeting to evaluate the effects on all the municipalities of Guerrero and make a support plan.
Attending this Wednesday’s meeting were Evelyn Salgado Pineda, governor of Guerrero; Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla, governor of Michoacán; Rosa Icela Rodríguez, Secretary of the Interior, Omar García Harfuch, Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection. As well as Marcelo Ebrard, Secretary of Economy; Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, Secretary of Tourism; David Kershenobich Stalnikowitz, Secretary of Health; Laura Velázquez Alzúa, national coordinator of Civil Protection, and other members of the Cabinet.
