Topwar doubted that the Russian Armed Forces used the ODAB-9000 in Volchansk
The publication Military Review (Topwar) doubted that Russia was the first to use the ODAB-9000 volumetric detonating bomb to strike a target in Volchansk, Kharkov region of Ukraine, during a special military operation (SVO).
Commenting on the video of the impact of a super-powerful bomb, the publication writes that Russian aviation uses bombs with universal planning and correction modules (UMPC), which turn free-falling ammunition into gliding ones. Thanks to this, aircraft carry out strikes without entering the enemy’s air defense (air defense) coverage area.
However, now the most powerful bomb with UMPC remains the FAB-3000. Therefore, to release a heavier projectile without a glide module, a heavy bomber would have to fly near the city on its line.
On October 2, Russian military correspondents and authors of pro-war Telegram channels reported that the Russian Armed Forces for the first time used the ODAB-9000 vacuum bomb, which is unofficially called the “daddy of all bombs,” in Volchansk in the Kharkov region.
Later, TV presenter Olga Skabeeva denied all these reports and, referring to the Russian Ministry of Defense, stated that the distributed video from Volchansk showed the use of the FAB-1500 thermobaric ammunition.
