According to Hezbollah, it and Israeli forces clashed in the area of the village of Marou el-Ras. Maroun el-Rasi is located about one kilometer from the Israeli village of Avivim. Hezbollah said it also fired rockets at the village of Avivim on Wednesday.
The Israeli army confirmed on Wednesday that eight Israeli soldiers have been killed in the fighting in Lebanon. In addition, at least seven soldiers have been seriously wounded. These are reportedly the first Israeli military casualties since it said it had launched a ground operation against Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon.

Many countries have condemned Iran’s missile attack on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the Secretary General of the UN António Guterres commented on Iran’s attack on Israel for the second time. He told the UN Security Council that “the cycle of violence that kills and pays back in the same measure must end,” reports the Reuters news agency.
“Time is running out,” he told the council, according to Reuters.
Earlier on Wednesday, Israel declared Guterres persona non grata. Israeli Foreign Minister by Israel Katz according to anyone who does not unequivocally condemn the Iranian missile strike, has no business with Israel.
On Tuesday, Guterres condemned the “expansion of the conflict in the Middle East”.
“This has to stop. We absolutely need a ceasefire,” Guterres said, according to Reuters.
