Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, stated that the country is “in the midst of a harsh war against the axis of evil in Iran”, in a statement in which he offered condolences for the death of eight soldiers in Lebanon in the ground incursion that began in the early hours of the morning. on Tuesday (1st).

Netanyahu ended his presentation by assuring that he will guarantee the return home of displaced people from the south of the country – who lived along the border with the Gaza Strip – and those from the north – on the border with Lebanon – and said that “the eternity of Israel”.
In the almost two days since Israel announced the entry of its troops into Lebanese territory, eight soldiers – all in their 20s – have been killed, the first to fall in the neighboring country since the 2006 war.
The dead so far are captains Harel Etinger and Itai Ariel Giat, both 23 years old; Sergeants Noam Barzilay, 22; Or Mantzur, Nazar Itkin, Ido Broyer and Almken Terefe, 21; and commander Eitan Itzhak Oster, 22.
According to The Times of Israel, Ettinger, Giat, Barzilai, Mantzur, Itkin and Oster were killed in hand-to-hand combat with fighters from the Hezbollah terrorist group in a city in southern Lebanon, while four other soldiers were injured.
The other clash, about which official sources provided no further details, killed Terefe and Broyer and injured a soldier from the elite Golani infantry brigade, from which another officer was injured in a fourth incident.
Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported that five of the injured soldiers are being treated at Beilinson hospital in central Israel, according to hospital sources.
Israel has increasingly deployed troops along the border with Lebanon, where on Tuesday it created a new “closed military zone” in three locations just a kilometer from the border, like the one created on Monday night, shortly before launching his land incursion.
