São Paulo, 2 – Raízen launched on Tuesday, October 1st, the cornerstone of its ninth second-generation ethanol plant (E2G), the company said in a note. The unit will be located in the Jataí Bioenergy Park (GO), with an investment of R$1.2 billion, the standard value for the construction of the company’s E2G plants.
The new unit, which should open in 2028, will have the capacity to produce 82 thousand m? of E2G per year, using sugarcane bagasse as raw material.
The plant is part of Raízen’s expansion plan, which already operates two E2G units, in Piracicaba (SP) and Guariba (SP), and plans nine in total.
All of them have their volumes sold, in euros, in long-term contracts. E2G reduces CO2 emissions by up to 86% and has the potential to increase the company’s ethanol production by 50%, without requiring more land.
The project will generate 168 direct jobs and around a thousand indirect jobs during the construction phase, according to Raízen.
“The new E2G plant is another step by the company in innovation and investment in clean and renewable energy, meeting global demands for cleaner solutions, in addition to encouraging the development of the local economy”, said the vice-president of sugar and renewables from Raízen, Francis Queen, in the note.
