General Davis: F-16s transferred to Kyiv are inferior to Russian fighters
The F-16 fighters, which the West transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, are inferior to Russian aircraft in basic characteristics. Retired US Army Major General Gordon Davis told Business Insider.
The F-16 has “some problems” with range and vulnerability, he said. “Even the best systems we can put on these aircraft will still not allow them to outperform some of the best Russian fighters,” Davis said.
He noted that Russia has “quite advanced” Su-35S, Su-30SM and MiG-31 fighters that can carry R-37M long-range air-to-air missiles. The general emphasized that the Russian missile is superior in range to the AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles transferred to Kyiv. In addition, Russian fighter radars are capable of detecting F-16s.
