Mitsubishi presented the new SUV Outlander PHEV, only available in version plug-in hybridwith beyond 80km of autonomy in electric mode. The renewed model builds on the success of the three previous generations. Its predecessor was the first to combine the plug-in hybrid technology with an SUV, with over 200,000 units sold in Europe since 2013.
The new Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, long 4.71 meters with a step of 2.7 metersoffers a bold design inspired by the brand’s heritage and Pajerocombining new modern lines with traditional elements. The front is characterized by Dynamic Shield, which combines aesthetics and protection, while the lighting technology a LEDs advanced improves visibility and safety.
The side design is solid and muscularwith robust wheel arches and details that emphasize the dynamism of the vehicle. The rear takes up the hexagonal motif of the Pajero, with LED lights from the front T shape. Cockpit, what the interior of the Outlander looks like
The interior of the new Outlander PHEV features a design that reflects theJapanese attention to hospitality (omotenashi), focusing on comfort, practicality and high quality details. The interior was designed to be large and silentwith a reduction in vibrations that improves the driving experience. The digital dashboard and infotainment system floating they are intuitive and easy to use, while physical touch points such as the steering wheel, controls and handles are designed to deliver precision and reliability. The elegance is complemented by premium materials and refined stitching, with seats that include heating, ventilation and massaging functions to ensure maximum comfort.
The big one panoramic roof floods the interior with natural light, increasing the feeling of spaciousness. Rear passengers benefit from adjustable and heated seats for a relaxing journey, with an improved backrest to provide greater comfort. The trunk varies from 495 to 1,422 litres thanks to the 40:20:40 split rear seats. Furthermore, the luggage compartment is easily accessible thanks to aimproved opening which facilitates loading and unloading operations.
Features plug-in hybrid drive
The new Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV has been completely renewed with a plug-in hybrid system that achieves a total power of 302 HP. The new powertrain in fact combines a four-cylinder engine aspirated of 2.4 liters from 136 HP and 203 Nm of torque and two electric motors high power, supported by a pack lithium batteries with increased capacity a 22.7 kWhallowing an autonomy in electric mode of up to 86km according to the WLTP cycle.
The front electric motor delivers 136 HP and 255 Nmwhile the rear one comes to 116 HP and 195 Nmworking together to provide a smooth and dynamic driving experience. Thanks to the larger battery pack and an advanced liquid cooling system, the Outlander PHEV can maintain the EV mode longereven with a sporty driving style and active air conditioning. The battery is capable of providing a 108% higher continuous power compared to the previous generation, improving energy efficiency.
The SUV offers three driving mode main ones to adapt to different conditions: EVfor purely electric driving at low and medium speeds; series hybrid, which uses the engine to generate electricity in situations of greater energy demand, such as uphill; thebridles in parallelwhere the combustion engine and electric motors work together to ensure high performance at high speeds. Furthermore, the driver can choose between four options to optimize battery use: Normal, EV, Save and Chargedepending on your driving needs.
In terms of efficiency, the new Outlander PHEV is capable of achieving fuel consumption of just 0.8 liters per 100 kmwith CO2 emissions varying between 18 and 19 g/km, depending on the size of the circles. With a 53-liter fuel tank and increased battery capacity, the SUV’s overall range can go up to 844 km.
The battery is recharged at home via the Type 2 socket or via public fast charging CHAdeMO. A socket lock function during public charging ensures safety, while system compatibility vehicle-to-home allows you to transfer energy from the vehicle battery to the home network, offering further advantages in terms of energy management.
Infotainment and connectivity
The new Outlander PHEV stands out in the European market for its advanced digitalisation and connectivity. In collaboration with Yamahathe vehicle features the system Dynamic Soundavailable with eight or twelve speakers. The 12.3″ digital display It is fully customizable, offering excellent visibility and viewing modes for audio and navigationwhile the energy flow screen allows you to monitor the motor output.

The advanced package of driver assistance systems uses ultrasonic sensors, radar and cameras to monitor the surrounding environment at 360°. Active safety systems include the frontal collision mitigation (FCM) system, the rear automatic emergency brakingblind spot monitoring, lane departure warning system, adaptive cruise control and traffic sign recognition.
The new Outlander PHEV is also equipped with a driver attention monitoringwhich evaluates driving behavior and activates warnings if necessary. During towing, theTrailer Stability Assistant provides additional control by monitoring trailer sway and applying brakes when required. Finally, the eCall function allows you to request immediate assistance in emergency situations with the simple press of a button.
Price, how much does the new Outlander cost
The price of the new Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV has not yet been officially announced, but it is expected to start from a minimum of 50,000 euros. The factory warranty is 5 years/100,000 kmwhile for the battery it is 8 years/160,000 km. The Outlander PHEV is imported into Italy from Koelliker Group.
