A new challenge
Waiting for the start season 11 of Formula E, at home Maserati a definition of the top management has been reached Trident. Specifically, Cyril Blais was officially and formally announced as new Team Principal of the Monegasque house. Last year, in fact, the transalpine took on the role of Deputy Team Principal alongside José Aznar Botella, who he will definitively replace starting from this championship.
Career
Having joined Maserati in 2021 (when the team was then known as Virtuosi) as race engineer for current world champion Pascal Wehrlein, Blais continued his career while always remaining close to the colors of Maserati, becoming ‘Engineer of the Year in Formula E in 2023. Thus begins a new adventure for the Frenchman, which will see him already active with the planning and preparation of the pre-season tests scheduled already this year in Valencia, from 4 to 7 November, with Stoffel Vandoorne and Jake Hughes who will form the Maserati line-up.
The first words
“This new role represents the next phase of my career and I am grateful for the trust that the team’s stakeholders have shown in me – Blais declared – I’m looking forward to focusing on my leadership skills rather than pure engineering. One thing I have learned in my role as deputy team principal is that the management of a racing team is never up to one individual, and I would not feel comfortable taking on this role if we did not have such a strong and expert within the team. It’s easy to get along and get the results you want on the track, but you see the true nature of things when you face difficult times as a team. The strength of character and spirit that the team has shown over the last two seasons has been truly eye-opening for me and I understand very well what needs to be done to maintain and develop this. Our main priority ahead of Valencia is to ensure that every member of the team has the optimal working environment and resources needed to be able to perform at their best.”
Botella’s recognition
Comments that also came from José Aznar Botella: “We are delighted to see Cyril elevated to the role of Team Principal – he declared – he truly deserves it and it is a clear testament to his hard work and leadership skills he has demonstrated throughout his time on the team. His vast knowledge and experience in the sport, combined with his passion and determination, will undoubtedly guide us towards continued success in the FIA Formula E World Championship. I would also like to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to the entire team for their continued commitment and hard work, it has been an honor to lead them in Season 10“.
