He’s not going through an easy time Stellantis in terms of production. In particular the Mirafiori plant: the Italian-French group has announced that the assembly operations of the Fiat 500e at the Mirafiori bodyworks will be suspended until next November 1stthe decision was taken definitively and for this reason it has already been communicated by the company to the unions.
Stellantis stops production in Mirafiori
According to what was reported by Ansa, Stellantis would have made it known that this extension of the production stop at Mirafiori would have been decided since “it persists lack of orders linked to the trend of the electricity market in Europe which is deeply in difficulty, despite the fact that in the first 8 months of the year the 500e represented 40% of sales in the EV segment of city cars (Segment A) in Europe”. In short, the electricity market is slow and with it production: in other words, a stop to the construction work of the 500 electric in Mirafiori to two weeks more compared to what was previously decided.
Fiat 500e stops
“We are working with determination to ensure the continuity of all our plants and activities. We reiterate that at the Mirafiori body shops, thanks to a investment of 100 million eurosthe production of the Fiat 500e will soon be boosted with a new high-potential battery, integrating new technologies to make it more accessible and improve the customer experience, but at the beginning of 2026 the production of the New 500 hybrid will also start, which will be made based on the current electric 500″added Stellantis, explaining that the Mirafiori complex is experiencing a important transformation, and specifying that the company’s objective is to make it a true hub of innovation and development at a global level, a crucial choice to overcome the challenge of the transition towards sustainable mobility.
Electric car crisis
“A vision that envisages a process of investments in the Turin district and in the Italian auto industry, aimed at creating the Mirafiori Automotive Park 2030which has global excellence in the production of electrified double clutch transmissions (eDct), the Circular Economy Plant and the Battery Technology Center, as well as the creation of a green Campus – concluded the group – Stellantis is always alongside its colleagues in this turbulent moment, with the aim of ensuring continuity and growth, confirming Italy’s role as one of the global pillars of the Group. The transition, indicated by politics and necessary for the health of the planet and people, is a complex and demanding routewhich does not spare difficult choices and does not offer solutions at hand, but requires unity of purpose and vision, necessary to accompany the company, together with all its employees, into the future”.
