Yesterday, Iran announced the launch of dozens of ballistic missiles against security targets inside Israeli territory, according to a statement broadcast on Iranian state television.
The Israeli army spokesman announced the launching of missiles from Iran on Israeli territory, calling on civilians to be cautious and to act in strict accordance with the instructions of the Home Front Command.
He continued: “The Home Front Command has distributed life-saving instructions in different regions of the country. The public is required to obey the instructions of the Home Front Command, and when the alarm sounds, you must enter the shelters and the protected area and wait there until further instructions are issued.”
Israeli Army Radio said: “About 200 missiles were launched from Iran at Israel.” The Israeli army intercepted a large number of missiles launched by Iran, according to what the army spokesman announced, adding that some damage was observed during the attack.
Israeli army spokesman Daniel Hagari said: “We carried out a large number of interception operations, and some damage occurred in the center and other areas in the south of the country.”
He stressed that Israel will respond to the Iranian missile attack, indicating that this will be at the time and place it chooses.
Hagari said: “There will be consequences for this attack. We have plans and we will act at the place and time we decide.”
In addition, Israeli Army Radio reported that take-offs and landings were halted at Ben Gurion International Airport near Tel Aviv after the Iranian attack.
This came after a senior White House official revealed yesterday that the United States has indications that Iran is preparing to launch a ballistic missile attack on Israel soon.
A statement by the Israeli ambulance service said: “At the present time, there are no reports of injuries as a result of rocket firing towards Israel, except for two minor injuries with shrapnel in the Tel Aviv area and some minor injuries in other parts of the country while moving to safe places.”
Meanwhile, an American defense official announced that American forces are ready to provide more defense support to Israel after helping to protect it from a missile attack. The official, who requested anonymity, said: “Our forces remain ready to provide more defensive support and to protect the American forces operating in the region,” after “defending against the missiles launched by Iran targeting Israel.”
In addition, the Iraqi Ministry of Transport announced yesterday evening the closure of the country’s airspace in order to preserve the safety of air navigation, according to the Iraqi News Agency.
The Civil Aviation Regulatory Authority in Jordan also announced the temporary suspension of air traffic in the Kingdom’s airspace, in view of the movement of all aircraft arriving, departing and crossing the Kingdom.
