Igarashi’s sadness
Koji Igarashihistoric producer of the Castlevania series, as well as Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night itself, quoted Ida’s message on X and expressed all his sadness at the news, wishing his friend and colleague a quick recovery.
Shuntaro Ida: “I, Shutaro, also known as Curry Boy and Curry Sennin, have received a cancer diagnosis and have begun my fight against the disease. I already have ideas for the sequel to Bloodstainedbut from now on I will pass the job on to someone else. Thank you for your support.”
Koji Igarashi: “Up until now, the DS (Castelevania) and Bloodstained series have essentially been created by director Shutaro. You can truly say that they are his work. It’s a huge pain to have him away from the projectbut we will do our best to deal with the situation. I hope you will recover to work together again.”
Ida has actually worked on a lot of Castlevanias, some of them true masterpieces. Igarashi’s reference is to the three Castlevania games for Nintendo DS: Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin and Order of Ecclesia, recently collected in the Dominus Collection. Ida also worked alongside Hideo Kojima on Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, in the role of lead programmer.
We all at multiplayer.it wish Ida to get well soon and return to developing her fantastic video games as soon as possible.
