Jurgen Klopp ruled out that Julian Nagelsmann will succeed the coach of the German national football team (machines), in the medium term. The former Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund coach told reporters in Berlin: “Everyone hopes that Nagelsmann will remain at work well beyond 2026.”
Rudi Föller, sporting director of the German Football Association, recently indicated that Klopp may be a potential successor to Nagelsmann. Before the European Championship, which Germany hosted last June, 37-year-old Nagelsmann extended his contract with the national team until the 2026 World Cup.
“I don’t know what Klopp will do, but if Nagelsmann decides at some point to move to a big club in Europe or Germany again, of course, the idea of contracting with Klopp cannot be overlooked, if he wants to,” Föller said on the German channel ZDF. Klopp said that he does not like to talk about football because there is nothing to say.
The former Liverpool coach added, “Rudi Voller is a very nice man, and he found himself in a situation where he was forced to speak in this way.” Jurgen Klopp left Liverpool at the end of last season after 9 years with the team, during which he won a league title and a Champions League title. He is currently spending a break, and the 57-year-old coach also did not rule out the possibility of retiring from coaching.
