At the age of 34, Nina Uusitalo, a fabric worker, received a brain injury as a result of an accident during the work day. Now, at the age of 52, he is still unable to work. The reading order on the refrigerator door helps him get through everyday life, because his memory doesn’t work because of a brain injury.
Nina Uusitalo is not an isolated case. Without the job search obligation, 40 percent of Satakunta’s job seekers are unemployed.
“It was the best time of my life when I worked on a ship as a sailor for 14 years. I was a hard worker, not a gimmick. I’ve cried a lot because I lost my dream job because of the brain injury.”
That’s what the clothier says Nina Uusitalo, 52, whose life took a dramatic turn in September 2006 while working on a cargo ship, when a cargo ship on its way from Mäntyluodo to Hamburg collided with another ship in the port of Hamburg. Uusitalo flew towards the cabin closet door from the force of the collision, injuring his head and upper arm.
