Latest “de luxe” for the Porsche Carrera Cup Italia. He won’t be the only one, but the special guest of the last stage in Monza next weekend will be Kalle Rovanpera. The 24-year-old two-time world rally champion will be at the start of the sixth round of the season at the wheel of the 911 GT3 Cup of Prima Ghinzani Motorsport – Porsche Centers of Milan, joining his teammates and regulars at the Italian single-brand championship Simone Iaquinta, Pietro Armanni and Cesare Brusa .
Among the 34 drivers expected at the start he will not be the only guest, but he will undoubtedly be the star to keep an eye on from different perspectives. Also because the young Finn will be making his debut in the Porsche Italia series, but he has already amply demonstrated that he knows how to go fast also on the “992” model of the German company, competing this year in the Carrera Cup Benelux with lots of victories achieved in Imola and at the Red Bull Ring.
Seeing Rovanpera compete in the Temple of Speed together with many specialists and those who are competing for the 2024 title, from Larry Ten Voorde to Keagan Masters to Marvin Klein, will be one of the main themes of the Brianza weekend, which starts on Friday 4th with free practice and continues Saturday with qualifying and race 1 (3.50 pm) and Sunday with the crucial race 2 (12.40 pm), both live (also free) on DAZN.
“We experienced a championship that was not particularly fortunate – he told Motorsport.com Giacomo Scanziteam principal of Prima Ghinzani –a series of unforeseen events have affected it when in reality we have always put a lot of effort into it and therefore finishing it by being able to field a star like Kalle is a great satisfaction for us. We looked for him, we wanted him and he, a guy who goes fast with any car, accepted with enthusiasm. This makes us happy because sometimes the results also have to deal with reputation and being satisfied with the team’s work. In all the activities I have always tried to create a family relationship, almost an extended family, and this is how we live in our team: as soon as they heard the news, all the kids were thrilled!”.
