The ruling parties the dispute about Finland’s line in the conflict between Israel and Palestine continues. Finland voted at the UN the other week in favor of declaring Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories illegal.
The Christian Democrats and the Fundamental Finns have criticized the foreign minister Elina Valtonen (kok) voting decision. Prime minister Petteri Orpo (kok) has tried to calm the conversation, but in vain.
Now a Member of Parliament for Basic Finns Kaisa Garedew says the voting decision is wrong and downright incomprehensible.

Garedew says he will resign from the voting decision “by all means”. He demands that the government clarify the line, but does not reveal what that means concretely.
Garedew is also criticized by the president by Alexander Stubb statement that the recognition of the Palestinian state is only a matter of time for Finland. According to Garedew, both the declaration of settlements as illegal and the recognition of Palestine by the president are “promoting the goals of terrorists”.
On Sunday the prime minister continued to criticize Orpo Ilta-Sanom a member of parliament of the other government partner, the Christian Democrats Päivi Räsänen.
Räsänen and Garedew state that the government program does not talk about declaring settlements illegal.
Orpo, on the other hand, has appealed to Finland’s long line of foreign policy and support for the decisions of the ICJ, an international court under the UN.
The Prime Minister has said that he is sure that the internal disputes of the government can be resolved around the common table.
In addition to the Israel vote, the government’s ranks have been divided by the Minister of Foreign Trade and Development Ville Tavion (ps) decision to leave Finland out of the equality coalition related to the reconstruction of Ukraine.
