Supplies of Chinese winter clothing to Russia decreased by 60% over the year
Imports of winter clothing from China fell sharply over the year. This is reported by RIA Novosti.
It is clarified that supplies fell by almost 60 percent against the backdrop of a significant increase in domestic production.
As the agency notes, in the first eight months of this year, the largest volume of imports came from natural fur products – $82.8 million. The import of coats and jackets amounted to $22.9 million, and faux fur clothing — $4.9 million. Ski suits were imported in the amount of 31.2 thousand dollars.
The decrease in the volume of purchases of products from China may be due to the increase in the production of warm outerwear in Russia. According to Rosstat, in January-July last year, the production of coats and jackets in the country increased by 24.7 percent year-on-year, reaching 5.4 million units. However, the production of coats and short coats with a top made of natural fur decreased by 6.9 percent, amounting to 45.8 thousand pieces.
In general, the total production of Russian winter outerwear over the year increased by 24.4 percent and reached 5.5 million items.
Earlier it became known that Russia sharply increased purchases of clothing from Germany – at the end of March 2024 they reached 15.95 million rubles. The figure was the highest since September 2023. The largest share of supplies (30 percent of all clothing exports from Germany to the Russian Federation) fell on T-shirts and T-shirts. In second place in terms of demand were sweaters and cardigans (18 percent), and third place was taken by women’s suits and skirts (12 percent).
