It’s not a particularly well-known fact, but over the course of the generation Sony has regularly made new versions of the DualSense controller of PS5. No, we are not talking about the various colors released over the years or even the Edge model with additional features. Let’s just talk about revisions of the basic model, which are not reported to the public.
Now, it has arrived fifth edition of the DualSense, the BDM-050, which as you can easily imagine follows the BDM-010, BDM-020, BDM-030 and BDM-040. To give you a point of reference, the Astro Bot DualSense model released in September is the 040, so the 050 is very recent indeed.
How to know which model your DualSense is and what’s new in version 5
First of all, if you want know which model is available to youyou have two options. You can scan the QR Code on the back of your DualSense. The app will return an alphanumeric code and all you have to do is check the second number: that indicates the model you have. If you don’t have your smartphone handy, you can simply look on the back for an alphanumeric code that starts with an F: the immediately following number indicates the model.
What changes but in detail between the DualSense model 5 and the previous ones? First of all, the weight is 274 grams like the Gen 4. The previous ones weighed 278 grams. However, there are no other external differences and even to the touch the controller seems the same.
Internally there are a whole series of small differences, but these are absolutely minor details for the average user. However, if you are intrigued by everything, you can see in the video which pieces of plastic have changed and other new features. Just know that the battery is absolutely the same.
Finally, we leave you with the trailer of the chrome models of the PS5 Slim covers and DualSense controllers.
