The Venezuelan opposition Juan Pablo Guanipa responded this Saturday to a publication by President Gustavo Petro in which the president again refused to lift the sanctions against Venezuela, and He asked the Colombian president to help the Nicolás Maduro regime recognize its defeat in the elections of July 28.
According to the criteria of
“Help them recognize that they lost and hand over power in respect of popular sovereignty. Recognize for yourself the minutes that we have published and that you know are real and audited,” Guanipa wrote in X.
The opposition leader responded in this way to a publication by the president Petro in which the president stated that poverty and Venezuelan migration are the fault of the economic blockade imposed by different countries of the international community.
“The devastating and widespread poverty that appears before a mass migration is caused by shocks, many of them external: the imposed economic block is one of them, the blockade immediately impoverishes the population and can kill people with hunger, it is a crime regarding the rights of human beings anywhere in the world,” Petro wrote on his X account.
The president also stated that Colombia has received millions of immigrants without barriers and assured that now that the border between the two countries is open “there is no mass migration and the passage through the Darién has decreased substantially.”
And he added: “Stop blocking countries because they block their people.”. “Free elections in Venezuela, yes, but without any type of blockade on anyone.”
After publication, Guanipa urged President Petro to “study the Venezuelan situation more so that he does not continue making mistakes” and urged him to recognize that the regime destroyed the oil and agricultural industry in Venezuela with corruption.
“Let’s not get into the issues of commerce, industry, tourism, etc., everything has been destroyed by that evil duo. “Do not protect them, do not defend them, nor insist is exonerating them,” the opponent emphasized.
Guanipa assured that Nicolás Maduro is the only one responsible for the sanctions that have been imposed on Venezuela and affirmed that the Chavista president “is the most serious sanction” that Venezuelans suffer.
Then, urged the president of Colombia to recognize the minutes that the opposition has presented and that show that it was Edmundo González Urrutia who won the presidential elections of July 28. While urging him to take real measures to help the people of Venezuela.
“Understand that there is no way to improve anything while Maduro is still there. Understand that Maduro was swept away electorally on July 28 (…). Do not remain president in that limbo in which he tries to be good with everyone and looks bad with the nation that made a decision that was taken away from it and it looks bad on its own conscience that knows what happened here,” he added.
Finally, Guanipa reminded Gustavo Petro that what happens in Venezuela will directly impact Colombia
“What happens here will affect, for better or worse, your government and your country. Assume the truth and leave the testimony of your attachment to it for history. Otherwise, everything will be talk and nothing will be solidarity action in favor of a neighboring and brother country,” concluded the opponent.
Maduro was proclaimed the winner of the elections with 52 percent of the votes by the pro-government National Electoral Council (CNE), which until now has not disclosed the detailed results of the scrutiny, as required by law.
The opposition, headed by María Corina Machado, denounces fraud and published on a website copies of about 80 percent of the electoral records, which would prove the victory of González Urrutia.
