Ukraine confirmed that, on the night of Saturday-Sunday, it targeted a missile and ammunition storage warehouse in the western Volgograd region of Russia, continuing its plan to launch intensive attacks on military logistical facilities.
A source close to operations in the Ukrainian defense sector confirmed that the operation was carried out using “120 explosive marches” jointly between the Military Intelligence Service, the security services and the army.
The source explained that targeting the missile, ammunition and explosives storage depot located in the Russian village of Kotluban “will lead to a reduction in the volume of ammunition for Russian army units.”
A statement by the General Staff of the Ukrainian Army said that “on the eve of the attack, missiles arrived” at the site, without mentioning whether these weapons were directly damaged in the attack that caused a “fire.”
Russia, for its part, did not report the effects of this new attack, which aims to disrupt its logistics in combat zones.
The Russian Ministry of Defense said, on the Telegram application, that “air defenses destroyed and intercepted during the night (…) 125 Ukrainian marches.”
Volgograd Governor Andrei Bocharov confirmed in a statement that there were no casualties or damage.
However, bloggers from Russia pointed out, on Telegram, that “several explosions sounded near Kotluban, where the facilities of the Main Directorate of Missiles and Artillery of the Ministry of Defense are located.”
Local Russian media also reported a “massive march attack,” while residents of this area reported the sound of “several explosions” during the night.
The Russian army confirms, on an almost daily basis, the interception of marches launched by Kyiv.
