The Israeli Army announced this Sunday that it killed more than 20 members of the political and militia group Hezbollah in Friday’s massive bombing of Beirut, in which its top leader, Hassan Nasrallah, and the commander of the southern front, Ali Karaki, were also assassinated. .
“More than 20 other terrorists of different categories were also eliminated, who were present in the underground headquarters (of Hezbollah) in Beirut”, detailed an Israeli military statement today, about the attack that was felt throughout the capital and whose numbers about Civilian deaths are still unknown.
Tel Aviv presented a list of leaders of the pro-Iran group killed in the latest attacks since Friday: Ibrahim Hussein Jazini, identified as head of Nasrallah’s security unit; Samir Tawfiq Dib, his advisor; Abed al Amir Muhamad Sablini, head of strengthening Hezbollah troops, and Ali Naaf Ayoub, responsible for coordinating attacks.
In addition to these, the Israeli Army announced the death of Nabil Qaouk, commander of the Preventive Security unit of the Shiite terrorist organization Hezbollah, in an attack launched this Saturday against the suburbs of Dahye, in the south of Beirut.
According to the military, “the terrorist Qaouk is considered the next highest in the Hezbollah terrorist organization.”
Qaouk joined Hezbollah in 1980 and served as a deputy in southern Lebanon representing the organization, added the military, which described him as a figure with a regular presence in the media to speak on behalf of the Shiite group.
Saturday’s attack targeted the Chiyah neighborhood in the southern suburbs of Beirut, according to the Lebanese news agency ANN.
Regarding the death of the southern front commander, Ali Karaki, Hezbollah released a statement this Sunday saying that he had commanded the group’s operations in southern Lebanon since 1982, actively participating in the 2006 conflict against Israel in the region.
Furthermore, he was “directly and in the field responsible for the leadership of the Southern Front, with all its axes and units” during the border clashes that began on October 8, one day after the outbreak of war in the Gaza Strip.
Earlier, during the early morning hours, Israel attacked several points in these same suburbs, claiming that Hezbollah was accumulating “anti-ship missiles hidden under six residential buildings”, and urged Lebanese civilians to move at least 500 meters away from these areas.
“The Israel Defense Forces continue to attack and eliminate the commanders of the terrorist organization Hezbollah and to act against anyone who threatens the citizens of the State of Israel,” the military statement highlighted this Sunday.
In his first public statement after Nasrallah’s assassination, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said last night that, although this is a great achievement, “the work is not yet done.”
“We have achieved great achievements, but the work is not yet done. In the coming days we will face important challenges and we will face them together,” Netanyahu highlighted in a video message.
Including Nasrallah, the Israeli Army said it had eliminated at least eight of the Lebanese militia’s top military commanders.
Since Israel and Hezbollah began their border clashes on October 8, following the war in the Gaza Strip, almost 500 terrorists have been killed.
