Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo will become the first woman to take the oath as president of the republic he Tuesday October 1st. It is minor to us, a woman had never reached the first magistracy of the country. It is not just a question of gender, it is the aspiration towards a fairer society. I wish we were arguing about it, but that’s not the case.
The visit of the still president of the republic and the president-elect south of Sinaloa They are a “sample button.” They assure that “everything is calm”, that these days of anxiety are an exception. With 200 thousand deadmore than one third of the national territory under the control of organized crime and several “qualiacanazos”, someone lives in an alternate reality.
Mexican popular culture is characterized by its rejection of pessimism. I would say that it is a great quality of the Creole soul. Perhaps our Catholic faith or simply the ability to resilience of the majorities, invite us to think that every future will be better. With such experience in failures, only by imagining a better future is it possible to move forward. Optimism is a condition for survival. In that hidden, inexplicable corner, Tyrians and Trojans still wonder, but will Claudia be better?
The President Sheinbaum It will have a better government and with it, the consolidation of a regime that is an enemy of freedoms.
Due to her profile, the new president will be more methodical. It will be the enemy of occurrences. It will privilege public policies with greater support. You will like to know the underlying problems and understand to what extent your proposal can resolve the inherited Mexico.
Unlike López Obrador, he will seek to build and not destroy. It is in her academic DNA, as a public and political servant, but, above all, in the function that she must assume as part of the “second floor of the transformation.”
AMLO destroyed because he knew that by doing so he would break the scaffolding that made possible the domination of those he faced for years. He did not invent anything, that is how it was in all the processes of authoritarian regression, from Russia, Turkey, Hungary, Poland, and a large etcetera of more than 25 countries in 20 years.
Claudia’s turn is to buildwhich does not mean that it is in favor of the regime of freedoms, of plurality, of representation, of balance. It’s naïve to think that way. Today, let’s be clear, it is an amalgamated State, a government and a party. There is no difference between these three entities. Whoever does not agree with this condition will be seen as a traitor.
His government begins tied upbut, before being a candidate, I already knew it. So there is no surprise. He managed to maintain the initiative in certain areas that are “dear” to him, such as energy, sustainable development, diplomacy and security, without the National Guard. In everything that has to do with political control, such as the Interior, Treasury, Congress, Senate, Economy, “the party” does not rule there. At most, it will try to place part of its people in administrative areas, where if the finances are not cleaned up, the problem will be theirs, well, ours. This is the case of CFE and Pemex.
We are entering as a country into an area little known in our history. The concentration of power accumulated in the hands of a single man will end up generating a parallel line of power. He “Maximatus” is perhaps the most similar to today’s possible tension in the government that is about to begin. However, not even Elías Calles accumulated the popularity of López Obrador, there was no television and with it “Las mañaneras”. When it comes to the populism of the 70s, during López Portillo and Luis Echeverría, we are talking about an institutional dimension. It is not the case.
The opposition to the president will be internal because the external opposition is “irrelevant.” While PRI, PAN and MC find, if anything, a way to regroup the opposition vote “to the movement,” the president faces “a single enigma.” And I say it well, just one, because the rest is no surprise. She knew it and so she accepted.
“Andy” López Beltrán is the new organization secretary of BRUNETTE. Is its formalization in the structure to help it or to restrict it?
The simplest answer is the last one, but it is worth the question. Not all of Mexico is with the official party, the wear and tear after the caudillo can happen faster than thought, as long as there is an authentic alternative. It is important not to trust yourself. The son of the next former president, more than “a wedge,” could also be a factor in internal governance. Help Claudia stay on track and, if you will, her possible succession. It’s an enigma.
So be it.
