Now mountain tourists in Switzerland are being asked to pay, according to research by SRF. Accordingly, members of the community and tourism authority met in the spring for a workshop at which a tax for day tourists was discussed.
The broadcaster even gives specific figures: the trip to Zermatt should cost twelve Swiss francs (12.77 euros). This corresponds to the tourist tax for three days if guests stay overnight in Zermatt. With the new fee, the municipality wants to motivate tourists to stay longer. This could bring more income to hotels and holiday apartments.
According to the report, the discussion was initiated by dissatisfied voices from the population. The many guests would therefore become more and more of a burden on the locals. This should now at least pay off financially. Meanwhile, fees are also rising in GermanyNorth Sea tourists are partly stunned by the price development.
