Somewhat surprisingly, the Crim team announced El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron HD Remaster For PS5 during the Tokyo Game Show 2024, which leads the game to have an enormous life cycle for a title that has remained somewhat underground.
Developed by the Japanese team under the direction of Sawaki Takeyasu, the original was released way back in 2011 on PS3 and Xbox 360 and then received a remastered version for Nintendo Switch last April. Precisely this HD Remaster is now also expected to arrive on PS5, although there is not yet a precise release date.
Takeyasu limited himself to announcing that the version for the Sony console is currently in development, but we are waiting for further information, especially regarding a more defined release date that could arrive later.
A biblical action game
El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron is a third person action game originally developed by Ignition Entertainment and created by Takeyasu and other authors of well-known titles such as Devil May Cry, Steel Battalion, Okami and others.
It is a title that has received excellent reviews from critics, despite remaining rather underground.
It is characterized by a very peculiar graphic style, which also well underlines the particularities of the setting and story, creating an overall memorable experience. The game is inspired by biblical elements and in particular to the apocryphal book of Enoch, telling the story of the celestial scribe who is commissioned by the angel Lucifel to find seven fallen angels, accused of having caused a revolt against God.
