Peskov: Kremlin’s position on Crimean Bridge is absolutely clear
The press secretary of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov spoke out after the start of the hearings of the Hague arbitration court on the allegedly illegal construction of the Crimean Bridge, reports TASS.
“The Kremlin’s position on all of Russia’s infrastructure is absolutely clear, and this position is absolutely dominant for us,” Peskov said.
The Kremlin spokesman declined to comment further on the matter.
On Monday, September 23, the trial of Ukraine’s lawsuit against Russia over rights in the Azov and Black Seas began in The Hague. The hearings, in particular, plan to examine Kyiv’s claims regarding Moscow’s alleged failure to comply with environmental standards during the construction and use of the infrastructure facility.
Russia, in turn, called Ukraine’s accusations in the dispute over the rights of coastal states in the Black Sea, the Sea of Azov and the Kerch Strait groundless and hopeless.
Russian Foreign Ministry Ambassador-at-Large Gennady Kuzmin also warned the court in The Hague that potential Ukrainian attacks on the Crimean Bridge would cause damage to the marine environment.
