During heavy rain on the night of Tuesday (September 24), the Sterza torrent in Tuscany overflowed and hit the property of the tourist family in the holiday resort of Montecatini near Pisa.

According to the fire department, the rest of the family managed to escape to the roof of the house. The grandmother and a five-month-old baby did not make it. As the newspaper The National reported that the grandfather tried to somehow hold on to his wife and child. But they slipped away into the floodwater.
