The company’s CEO, Matthew Prince, stated that he did not help the social network to get back up and running after the server change
Cloudflare CEO Matthew Prince denied on Monday (September 23, 2024) that the company helped X temporarily get back up and running in Brazil. He also ruled out helping Anatel (the National Telecommunications Agency) take down the social network again.
“I don’t know what the Brazilian authorities are talking about, because we haven’t specifically worked with them to block X or make X available in Brazil”Prince said in an interview with Bloomberg.
According to Prince, X closed a new deal with Cloudflare, which caused the server change. He stated that Anatel managed to block the social network’s new address.
“There was nothing that X asked us to do in terms of eliminating Brazil’s ability to block content within Brazil. And there was nothing we did to further facilitate Brazil’s ability to block what they were doing.”he stated.
Last Wednesday (September 18), X started working again in Brazil after changing servers. However, it was blocked again. The social network is complying with the orders of STF (Supreme Federal Court) minister Alexandre de Moraes to return to active service.
The social network has been suspended in Brazil since August 30, by order of Moraes, ratified by the 1st Panel of the Supreme Court. X was blocked due to non-compliance with court orders, such as blocking profiles, providing information about monetization and the lack of a legal representative in the country.
