Sony Santa Monica has released God of War Ragnarok’s second patch for PCwhich among other things removes the requirement to have 6GB of VRAMor graphic memory, to start the game. Many had complained because they considered it absurd and it was even more so in the face of a mod that had removed it, showing the possibility of playing it without major problems even using less capable video cards.
All patch fixes
However, there are also other problems solved by the patch, which has fixed several bugs reported by users. We read:
- Fixed an issue where NVIDIA DLSS Frame Generation would not initialize properly.
- Fixed an issue with NVIDIA Reflex appearing as disabled in the UI when enabling Frame Generation.
- Fixed some timing markers with NVIDIA Reflex.
- Fixed UI not showing Surround Sound in Audio Calibration.
- Fixed an issue where surround sound applied stereo audio mixing causing some sounds to be too quiet or too loud.
- Fixed UI controller icons that were low resolution and blurry in some cases.
- Fixed an issue where controls would not work during quicktime events if Interact/Evade were swapped in addition to having Steam Input enabled.
- Fixed an issue on Steam Deck with an unmapped button that prevented you from completing part of the tutorial.
- Removed blocking of GPUs with less than 6GB of VRAM from game launch.
Sony finally noted that a card with 6GB is still an official requirementmeaning that 4GB cards are not officially supported and may experience performance issues or crashes. So if you decide to play anyway, you do so at your own risk.
