Chihuahua, Chih.- The state attorney general, César Jáuregui, said that they will appeal the decision of Judge Nora Espino who determined that seven people arrested for the clashes in the municipality of Ojinaga will not be prosecuted. Jáuregui expressed his disagreement with the judge’s decision and said that they will follow the legal mechanisms in the case.
“We are going to appeal the decision, obviously because we do not agree, especially when, in my opinion, there was a lot of evidence that pointed to the fact that these men had direct responsibility for the clashes that were taking place,” he said.
Regarding the judge’s arguments that there were deficiencies in the work of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the prosecutor said that there was no poor investigation and was optimistic that they would be able to appeal the decision and bring these people back to justice.
“I will never make accusations or speak ill of a power because it does not resolve in accordance with what I think it should have resolved. There are mechanisms for that, we are going to challenge, and well, they just make us fight more. But many times we appeal and we can recapture those people,” he said.
