El Paso.- One person has died after a crash involving a motorcycle in south-central El Paso on Sunday afternoon, El Paso Police said. This is the sixth death of a motorcyclist in 23 days.
The crash happened on Gateway East near Radford, close to Lincoln Park, according to police. One fatality has been confirmed, and the Special Traffic Investigations Unit (STI) is on the scene. The STI investigates crashes involving serious injuries or fatalities.
The accident happened near Lincoln Park, which hosted Lincoln Park Day on Sunday. Lincoln Park Day is a huge celebration of Mexican-American culture that features a show of low-riding cars and music. The celebration ended at 5 p.m.
The Texas Department of Transportation said Gateway East is closed in Radford due to the crash. Cleanup time will be until further notice. The nearby exit from Interstate 10 East toward Raynolds is also closed, according to TxDOT.
