Russian Foreign Ministry: Ukrainian Armed Forces Hold Up to 120 Civilians Captive in Sudzha
The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are holding between 70 and 120 civilians in a social institution in the border town of Sudzha. This was stated by Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry Rodion Miroshnik, reports TASS.
“According to our information, from 70 to 120 people are being held in this territory. Including up to 15 people there – these are children,” he said.
According to him, since the invasion of Ukrainian fighters into the Kursk region, 266 civilians have been wounded and 56 killed. Among those wounded are 11 children, Miroshnik added. The diplomat called this data a small part that is reliably known to the Russian side. He noted that it will be possible to establish all the consequences only after taking control of this territory.
Ukraine invaded the Kursk region in early August. First, Sudzha came under fire. Then the Ukrainian Armed Forces broke through the border, seizing control over several settlements. On September 10, it became known about a large-scale counteroffensive by Russian troops. According to the Defense Ministry as of September 22, Kyiv lost more than 16 thousand servicemen in the Kursk direction.
