President traveled to New York for the UN Assembly and meetings in which he intends to discuss institutional reform and democracy
The president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) meets this Monday (23.Sep.2024) with the Chancellor of Germany, Olaf Scholz (Social Democratic Party, center-left), and with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen (European People’s Party, center-right). He will also attend a seminar of the Clinton Foundation and participates in an event Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
The Chief Executive is in New York (USA) to participate in the 79th UN General Assembly (United Nations) and for meetings in which it intends to discuss the reform of multilateral institutions and democracy.
Lula returns to Brazil on Wednesday (September 25), but will not stay long in the country. He will attend the inauguration of Mexico’s president-elect, Claudia Sheinbaum (Morena, left), on October 1.

- annual initiative award Goalkeepersorganized by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The event brings together global leaders to accelerate progress towards SDG 18 (18th Sustainable Development Goal). It will be at Jazz at Lincoln Center, at 7:40 pm.
The first lady, Janja Lula da Silva, is expected to accompany the president at the meetings.
